1. L’appel du vide (French): Literally translated to “the call of the void”; contextually used to describe the instinctive urge to jump from high places.
2. Komorebi (Japanese): The sunlight that filters through the leaves of the trees.
3. Arigata-meiwaku (Japanese): “unwelcome kindness;” an act that someone does for you even though you didn’t want them to do it and you tried to avoid it. They did it anway determined to help and despite all the trouble or irritation caused you’re expected to express gratitude.
4. Filotimo (Greek): a person who understands the responsibility to themselves being to always do the right thing and with honour. No matter what this person will do the honourable thing regardless of the consequence.
5. Mokita (Kivila): The truth everyone knows but agrees not to talk about.
6. Sobremesa (Spanish): After-lunch conversation around the table. When the food is gone but conversation continues
7. Verschlimmbessern (German): To make something worse when trying to improve it.
8. Backpfeifengesicht (German): literally means a ‘face that should be slapped’ or ‘a face in need of a slap’
9. Elmosolyodni (Hungarian): A kind of soft smile that forms when something isn’t especially funny but you can’t help but smile anyway.
10. Gökotta (Swedish): To wake up early in the morning with the purpose of going outside to hear the first birds sing.
